Yummly alternatives
Yummly is no longer available as an app. As of 21 July 2026, its website redirects to KitchenAid’s recipe pages and there is no Yummly app in the US App Store. If you are looking for somewhere to put your recipes instead, the right replacement depends on which part of Yummly you actually used — discovering new recipes, planning the week, or keeping a personal collection. Here are the honest options for each.
What happened to Yummly
Yummly was acquired by Whirlpool, the appliance company that also owns KitchenAid. Visiting yummly.comtoday does not show an error or a shutdown notice — it redirects straight to KitchenAid’s recipe section, and the app is absent from the App Store.
Practically, that means the recipe content largely survives under a different brand, while the app and the personal recipe box do not. That is the part people are searching for a replacement for.
First, work out which Yummly you used
Yummly did three jobs, and no single app below does all three as well. Picking well is mostly a matter of being honest about which one you actually opened it for.
- Discovery — browsing a big database of recipes you had not seen. → Samsung Food.
- Planning — deciding the week and getting a grocery list out of it. → Mealime, or Otto.
- Keeping — a personal box of recipes you had already chosen. → Paprika, Crouton, or Otto.

The lesson worth taking from this
Yummly did not fail. It was bought, and then it was folded into its owner’s brand — which from a user’s side is indistinguishable from failing. Any recipe collection that lives only inside one company’s app carries that risk.
Two things reduce it, and both are worth checking before you commit a few hundred recipes to anything: can you get your data out, and does each saved recipe keep a live link to wherever it came from? A recipe that remembers its source survives the app that stored it.

Is Yummly shut down?
It is no longer available as it was. As of 21 July 2026, yummly.comredirects to KitchenAid’s recipe pages, and there is no Yummly app in the US App Store. Whirlpool, which owns KitchenAid, had acquired Yummly. Recipe content appears to have been folded into the KitchenAid site rather than simply deleted, but the app and the personal recipe box that went with it are gone.
Can I still get my Yummly recipes back?
Probably not through the app, since it is no longer listed. If you saved recipes by their original links, those links usually still work — most pointed at the food blog or publisher the recipe came from, not at Yummly itself. It is worth checking any old browser bookmarks or exports before assuming the collection is lost. This is the argument for keeping recipes somewhere you control rather than inside a service that can be acquired.
What was Yummly actually good at?
Three quite different things at once: discovering new recipes from a large database, filtering them against diets and allergies, and saving the ones you liked into a personal box. Most alternatives do one of those well rather than all three, which is why the right replacement depends on which part you actually used.
Which alternative is closest to Yummly?
For discovery plus planning in one place, Samsung Food is the nearest equivalent. For the personal recipe box, a dedicated recipe manager like Paprika, Crouton or Otto is a closer match and generally a calmer one — they hold what you already found instead of pushing a feed at you.
How do I avoid this happening again?
Prefer apps that let you export what you have put in, and check whether a recipe keeps a live link to where it came from. Otto keeps the source and link on every imported recipe and cannot remove that credit, and you can request a full copy of everything in your account at any time.
